Previously, in old days, when you want to take a screenshot of your existing screen and send to other person as image/picture file in JPG format, it was never easy unless you have imaging softwares like Photoshop or at least the MS Paint.

Now, things getting more simple, to take your screenshot, you can just open the capturing software, and straight away you can cut the screen selecting which position you want to make the screenshot (not necessary for you to capture the whole screen), and what ever you are capturing, immediately get saved into JPG image. Multiple screen you capture, multiple JPG, this makes life totally easy.

I will first tell you the classic way of capturing screenshots (printscreen),
In your keyboard, look for ‘Print Screen’ button. Normally they use short form like ‘PrtSc’ which means the same. Click on the button, then open MS Words or Powerpoint, straight away click on the ‘Paste’ button, you will see the screenshot that you captured being put there as a image/picture. You can capture as many screen as you want through the 'Print Screen' button and every time after capturing, you must Paste them into the MS Words or Powerpoint.

To make things more easy, the modern way of capturing screenshots, just download and install any screen capturing software. I personally suggest ScreenHunter since it is free and it works fine for me even in Windows 7. Everytime you need to capture screenshot, just open this software and click on the Capture button, straight away it will create the JPG file and save to your desired folder. You can set the default folder in the settings.

There is an option in the ScreenHunter which lets you to capture 'Rectangle Area'. This means, when you capturing using this option, instead of capturing the whole screen, the software will give you selector cursor to simply select any part of your screen. This is wonderful way of making anything visible on your screen to be in JPG picture format.

Have fun guys!

Create PDF from almost any format document

Hi guys,

Do you have MS Document or MS Excel that you want to make it PDF and send over to your client/customers?

I had few clients ask me this question and I advised them the steps. But, when new customers keep on asking the same, I eventually get tired. The right manner, I should have Blog about it which I decide to do it now rather than 'another' later.

Direct to point, making or converting your documents to PDF is completely easy. There are few softwares that can do this work easily.

I would personally suggest CutePDF since I have test it.

Steps,

Download and install CutePDF, link: http://www.cutepdf.com/download/CuteWriter.exe

Open your the document that you want to make PDF (can be any document format DOC, DOCX, ...)

Click to File > Print.

When the print screen shows up, you will notice the 'Printer' set to your existing default Printer. Click on the printer list and change it to CutePDF (this is a new printer which will appear after you installed CutePDF)

Go ahead and print with CutePDF, it will immediately ask you for the PDF filename.

Your document is now in PDF format as the filename you saved.

Have fun! Blast the PDF to your customers. Spam their mailbox as much as possible with all your promotion stuffs.

View PDF within MS Outlook 2007

Hi all,

Interesting that Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 able to view common office document and images within the application itself. I was totally annoyed with that message and I found a patch which cleaned up my machine pretty good.

Due to Windows XP's weak file-systems protection which leaves the file-systems open for hackers and viruses, my Windows XP was being continuously attacked. Getting tired of it, I had installed Windows 7.

Like I mentioned in my previous post, Windows 7 is wonderful piece of Windows ever! I loved the way it works. Furthermore, new applications such as Adobe Photoshop CS4 and others works pretty fast and smooth compared to Windows XP last time. Although its the same machine I am using it. I can feel that the new softwares are being written for newer version of Windows and making it sometime lack if used in older version of Windows.

But anyway, lets cut this short. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate RTM (OEM Edition). It requires no CD key. Just install it with blank cd key and it would automatically assign the copy of windows to OEM key and activates it. Pretty good. I was enjoying it for about a 2 weeks. I left the Windows Updates open thinking that OEM edition will never be blocked by Microsoft. I was so wrong! I left my PC running all night while I sleep (I always do this because lazy to close the machine), and the next day when I woke up, I saw the machine showing "this copy of windows is not genuine" error. So annoyed.

Started my search again for patch and found "Windows 7 Build 7600 RTM (x86/x64) Release 10.0 (03/03/2010)" patch. I had no luck. (Maybe because I did not run it as administrator)

Next I found a bunch of patches (contain 6 type patches) for Windows 7. The file was removed by many File Hosting website but continuous search lead me to download the copy from Rapidshare which was uploaded 2 weeks ago and the link is still alive.

Among the 6 type of patch, I selected "Chew-WGA 0.9 - The Windows 7 Patch". It has nothing complicated. Just one single executable file, I run it as administrator. It opened nice GUI and I clicked the "Apply" button. It installed the patch and restarted my machine.

The Windows annoying error was gone! And the status of Windows shows "Activated."

So if your copy of Windows 7 experience the same problem, all you need to do is google for that Chew-WGA and download the latest version. I cannot provide the URL because File Hosting website normally will trace the file and delete it within 1 month. So you must google for the latest one and download it on your own.

Have fun guys!

Windows 7, a new chapter

Hi,

As you all already know, Windows 7 is in town! I believe most of you could have experienced it already. How do you guys find it so far?

In my case, XP's weakness of defending its own system files has cause a major problem to me and rather than keep fighting with those viruses and spyware, I jumped to Windows 7.

Windows 7 is the best Windows experience I has so far. I know Windows 7 has similar interface to Vista, but previously Vista was lacking in term of capturing high memory and unwanted services. Windows 7 on the other hand, has more simplified system. It does not bite the memory that bad.

If you guys could have notice, now days the Netbook is getting popular. You guys can find the Netbook comes with 2 different OS options which are Windows XP and Windows 7. My question is where is Windows Vista? Like I said, Vista is heavy and it doesn't suite the Netbook which is low specs. But Windows 7 is smart, it can tweak in nicely to fit itself based on the machine's specs.

The minimum requirement for Windows 7 is 1GB RAM and 1Ghz processor. Some claim that Windows 7 works fine with 512KB RAM itself. Pretty good right?

But anyway, I can feel that Windows 7 has just win over Windows XP's market share. And I bet its the best of Microsoft so far!

One best feature of Windows 7 that I love is the TaskBar (SuperBar) has been given new energy whereas we can store the application shortcuts in the TaskBar. Later when we are using the application, it will not consume any extra space in the TaskBar, instead just putting a rectangle box around the application icon to mention that the application is currently opened. Wow, this saved a lot of space in the TaskBar. Besides, we can pin our favorite files/shortcuts to this application. And when we right-click on the application icon in the taskbar, it will show the shortcuts that we have pinned to that particular application. If you pressed Shift button on keyboard and clicked on the application icon, then it will open the same application in another window. For example, if we have calculator and already open 1 to do some calculations, middle of the way, if we need another calculator to count something else, just press Shift and click the calculator icon, another calculator would be displayed.

I still find it slightly difficult to navigate the file explorer because its all being grouped together in one icon, but I believe the way the taskbar is programmed is very good. I would get used to this taskbar and will extremely contribute to efficiency in handling files and doing my daily pc work.

I agree Windows 7 is pretty good, therefore Regan Rajan recommends Windows 7 to all.

Have a nice day guys!

MySQL Strict-Mode need to be not so strict!

Hi,

The best part of PHP or MySQL is their flexibility. MySQL by default has Strict-Mode which will hold you tight to follow the standard rules.

It is a great thing that we all can follow the appropriate standard rules and we have the discipline. But somehow, when you come across scripts that require "not so strict" mode, then we need to work flexible with that script instead of changing all over again.

Just assume that we are freelance programmer and thrown into a large project which has its mysql commands all generated without any strict discipline. We got to work and follow the same instead of keep being standard coder.

The common 2 problems when you are running Strict-Mode:
1) Cannot insert '' (empty string) into Integer Field.
2) Cannot automatically insert NULL if a field is required field.

If you running your MySQL database locally and you need to turn off the Strict-Mode, then look for my.ini file in your MySQL installation folder. For me it was default install, so the file was at: C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\my.ini

Search/Find for "SQL mode". Then you will see the lines;
# Set the SQL mode to strictsql-mode="STRICT_TRANS_TABLES,NO_AUTO_CREATE_USER,NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION"

Just remove the "STRICT_TRANS_TABLES," from the second line and leave it like this;
# Set the SQL mode to strict
sql-mode="NO_AUTO_CREATE_USER,NO_ENGINE_SUBSTITUTION"

That's it!

Restart your MySQL service and you will be running the MySQL without rules. Follow the project standard although it is not so standard ;)

Be flexible!
Have fun!

Multiple MySQL Service conflict

Hi there,

At beginning of programming life, I installed MySQL 5 by downloading it directly from their website. I was using it with IIS (installed PHP) and it worked fine.

Later, I decided to not use IIS because my office programming interface was using Xampp and I was given no option because I need the Xampp to run Apache. I disabled my IIS and installed Xampp. All worked fine.

Until one fine day, I accidentally "Stop" and "Start" the MySQL service provided in Xampp Control Panel. As result of it, all my database went missing (no such DB anymore). I went panic until I understood that Xampp has its own MySQL Service offered in the bundle. In this case, when I clicked "Stop", it had actually stop my original MySQL service. And when I clicked "Start", it started the Xampp's bundled MySQL service. They both are 2 different service and has 2 different data folder.

Basically, the original MySQL service name would be "MySQL" and the Xampp bundled service name would be "mysql" (only the letter case are different).

The problem is, once the "mysql" service has been started (and stopped), the "MySQL" service cannot be started. It would show "Service unable to start. Error 0".

Googling further helped me to solve this issue with little trick of commenting out (disabling) a single line in the my.ini (MySQL's configuration file).
Reference: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Database/MySQL/Q_24356864.html

I comment out this line,
default-storage-engine=INNODB (add # at beginning of line to comment out)
in the configuration file stored at this path,
C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\my.ini (your config file may be different depend on where you installed the original MySQL)

And then, start the "MySQL" service like this,
Run "SERVICES.MSC", look for "MySQL", right-click on it and select "Start".

Done, the service runs again like charm and I can access my databases again without crashing them ;)

Have fun guys!

Aayirathil Oruvan - 2010

I watched this movie this cinema today after seeing the trailer yesterday night. I booked the ticket after watching the trailer and "Trailer Launch Video" which stars like Surya, Kamal Haasan, Parthiban, KS Ravikumar and others had comment the trailer.

It had pull my interest to spend my money and time on this movie. It is totally worth it! I enjoyed the movie as it is presented for "grown-ups" only because it contain adult language.

I do not want to tell you the story because I do not wish to break the suspense. If you haven't watch the movie, I suggest you should because I consider the movie as one of "must watch movie" for 2010!

The first-half of the story was full of comedy while second half of it was dragging me back in history and I went so blur. I am saying blur because the language that they used in the second-half is totally super-classical Tamil until I do not understand it. It is Tamil but I don't understand it. Kinda embarrassing to say that but hey, trust me, at least I understood 20% to 30% but there was people who did not understand at all! Because only I laughed most for the jokes mentioned in the classic-Tamil.

It might look rude for some people but it is a grown-ups movie and no problem with the movie. I enjoyed the "Oh Eesa." The camera and scenes was visuallized for fake as it has no relation with the movie. Especially showing the "Shivan" lord picture in the song was absolutely ridiculous! But do not bother much about the song as it is intended to treat you and cool off your mood from seriousness. Reema Sen was shown with full glamour and she really smokes me away!

The scene that I enjoyed most in the first-half is where Karthi would get on top of Reema and freeze seeing Reema's boobs and Reema will ask "semme kette ille?" Then Andrea gives the look of Jesus and it is damn funny! The following scene of the girls scolding each other using rude english as shown in the trailer was great as well!
Reema: You shut up, you b*tch
Andrea: Who are you calling b*tch. You are the biggest f*cking b*tch I ever seen
Reema: Yea rite, at least I am not romancing as some back here
Andrea: Yea rite, you rather let him have a peek at your b**bs
Reema: Shut up you b*tch otherwise I will blow your f*cking brains off
Karthi: ~Stand blur~enjoy cat-fight!

On the second-half, I enjoyed the scene of climax which they showed the mixture/clash of classic warriors (sword) with the modern soldier (gun). It was realistic whereas they win the gun fight and lose-out the boom fight. In that moment, Parthiban will as (in Tamil); "What kind weapon attack is this, you never warn me about it, you worried that we will be scared? Hahahaha". Wonderful script.

Although the movie is totally out of logic and such, but it is what we can expect from Adventure movie and well shown in the movie. Overall, they done a great job. The visual computer graphic was poor but at certain parts, they used the graphic very well, such as the snake scene, the graphic was rich for the scene. I guess the producer was not interested to spend much on graphics.

The movie also has been an issue on budget since the movie was proposed for 6 Crores but the movie had whopped to 30+ Crores and no wonder they finished the movie in little rush and the ending of the story was incomplete but did meet the purpose. Some in the cinema complain and argue that the ending is ridiculous and they can't understand it. But I think, it is a grown-ups movie and you need extra brain to understand it. If they had put attention to the movie and story line that the director had proposed, they would have understand the ending and that is what the story is all about. If you also watched the movie and do not understand the ending, just buzz me and I would tell you why the ending is like that and how does it makes a good sense for the movie.

One thing disappointed me is the use of "Shivan" lord in the trailer without any reason. That is kinda lame. The trailer actually made me to expect the Lord Shivan to appear at the end and safe the people. But no such thing happen and I was so blur. They used the Lord picture in the trailer without any reason. The trailer can be claimed misleading for showing Lord Shivan picture.

Take a look at this trailer
(which really made me book the ticket)

Rating:9/10 (could have been 'best' if graphic was emphasized with real-good-ending)

Class: Adventure
Mood: Thrill

Catchy Conclusions; classic, legend, history, archeologist, early 19th century

Using Unicode UTF8 for Webpages (PHP & MySQL)

Hi there,

Another adventure of mine; making the webpage support Unicode characters.

As you guys already know, I developed my own CMS and commercialized it as Digital Paper. Last time my client asked me either it support chinese characters or not? In that time, I was lack of answer as I never get chance to test it with chinese characters. But the day finally came whereas another client of mine gave me the opportunity to provide him the website with chinese character support.

And my adventure of tuning my pages started like this;

Basically I found that when I am submitting a form with unicode character (chinese characters), the php receives the unicode character as numeric character references (NCR) and it works great! The exact NCR being saved into the database.

But that wasn't ideal because my CMS is also developed using AJAX which enables the values to be saved without submitting the form. The AJAX will grab the value from the text-box and input direct to database. In this case, it did not work.

At first, I suspected the AJAX. But then I found the AJAX has full-unicode support and I tested it as well. Then I tried to modify function to convert the data to NCR before saving to database. For this purpose, I failed to write and failed to find a good function to do what I wanted. Then I studied further through googling and found advise that using NCR could be temporary solution only and not absolute because it is converting each characters rather than preparing the whole website for unicode support.

I finally decided to follow the classic way that I know which is making the whole website to be UTF8 character-set. Only 3 step, and my work was done. Seriously.

Step 1:
add the appropriate meta and make sure all the pages does load this meta (this is for the browser to understand and extract UTF8)
<meta content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" http-equiv="Content-Type"></meta>
Reference: http://webcollab.sourceforge.net/unicode.html

Step 2:
add the appropriate character set to php.ini (this is for the web-server to understand and output UTF8)
default_charset = "utf-8"
Reference:http://htmlpurifier.org/docs/enduser-utf8.html

Step 3:
change the mysql table to appropriate encoding by executing this kind of command line for every table (this is for the database server to understand and accept UTF8)
ALTER TABLE tbl_name CONVERT TO CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_general_ci;
Reference: http://wolfram.kriesing.de/blog/index.php/2007/convert-mysql-db-to-utf8

Finally, enjoy the show!
(the website works with Chinese characters)

Have fun guys!

Digi Wireless Broadband full with virus!

Hi there...

Either you guys believe the statement or not, i am pretty sure you had experienced some wireless network and you could have heard that Wifi that is not password protected is not safe as it tend to be open for virus attack by hackers. But you would have not experience such virus attack when you using KFC, McD, or A&W free wifi. It is because you are in a small network, LAN which is connected to the net. So what ever attack that might reach ur pc must be done through LAN, and it cannot pass through WAN(internet) because only the internet router would be attacked and it has build-in firewall which can ignore the attack. In most cases, the router will run Linux engine in it and clearly those virus intended for windows PC wont able to threat the router.

But, the things (the virus attack by hacker through WAN) becomes visible when you are connected directly to the net. Yes, direct connection example is Streamyx, Celcom Wireless Broadband, Maxis, and the newly introduced Digi broadband.

Virus attack to your pc is possible because you are connected to WAN and assigned dynamic IP. The hackers will attack the same WAN you connected and simply attack the IP range and if your IP is one of the range, then sure it attacks your pc as well.

In most cases, people do not see this virus attacked clearly because they do not have a strong antivirus that keeping on eye on everything from files, downloads, emails, and even webpages that you surf. If you have such strong antivirus, you can notice the antivirus is warning you about the attack in real-time. The antivirus that I always recommend to my clients is Avast. The home edition is free and it is very strong to monitor the network and activity of your PC to ensure it is free from all attacks. Even i remember PC-cillin is also capable of detacting attacks in real-time.

So what's wrong? The problem is, the WAN network that our telco provide is not strongly monitored and not easy to detact the hackers on network. When you connect your PC to internet, if the you have direct IP address, then your PC is highly in threat.

I never notice the hackers attack much on Streamyx network because the IP address range is a lot and low probably for the hackers to choose your network to attack.

But small and new telco such as Maxis, Digi and Celcom uses only small IP address range as thats how their net infrastructure is been setup. Leaving you behind with high probably for hackers to attack your IP address.

From my own experience, Celcom is open to the attack and very active/often attacked. When I surfing the net, Avast will alert me about the attack being performed by the WAN through different ports and different ways. Avast able to kick it all out and keep the PC calm. But the annoying part is the attack is active and I would see the alert like every 10 minutes. Really annoying. This is still in OK kinda range because the virus is not very strong and Antivirus still can deal it.

Recently, just 2 days ago, I bought Digi Wireless Broadband as they promise speed of 700kbps for RM58 a month and that is lowest in Malaysia. Today when I use the network for about 1 hour, avast warned me about virus attack and the virus is 'wlcomm.exe' or something. The messy part is, Avast was not able to get rid of it because it get into the memory so fast. Then when i restart the PC, avast keep warning me about the virus being active in memory and it is force-shuting-down avast related files. The system also started to lag and I seriously know that this is how things will be if the virus trying to take over the PC. Therefore, Avast itself has a build-in on boot scanner which is really powerful and will help to kill the virus by scanning the virus without starting the normal windows. Avast suggested that option as default for the current situation of my PC and i am proceeding with it. I have alot of files and my on-boot scanning would take at least 1 day. In conclusion, my 1 day of work is affected just because Digi broadband is so in hackers attack. That shows that digi need to way-improve their network security. Although they are front in speed and features, they still out-dated in term of stability, reliability and security.

That do not conclude that I would hate Digi. I still like Digi for providing wireless broadband at more reasonable price for Malaysian. And I would tight-up my antivirus when using Digi broadband.

The motive of writing this blog is to alert you that 'virus sure exist in any WAN' and especially in Malaysia where our network infrastructure is still out-dated on security issues. Therefore, alway have a strong antivirus to help you combat with those virus attacks while you surfing the net and remember to regularly scan your PC if you are active internet user like me. I strongly recommend Avast Antivirus Home Edition which is free and strong to help you combat the virus. Do install it if you are newbie or not really sure which Antivirus to go for.

Do take note that virus attack through web is different from virus attack through IP. The web virus attack is where they would load the virus in the webpage's html content and your browser would accidentally download the virus and be victim. This web virus can be avoided by using Firefox which is strong to block indirect virus downloads. On the other hand, IP address virus attacks happen without involving the webpages or browser. It direct to your computer's opened port. Eventually you cannot keep all port close and you would happen to have certain ports open for software like torrent, remote desktop or even messenger software. At the same time, virus attack by hackers do not mean the hackers need to be present all the time while performing the attack. Because Virus itself would able to spread by its own. For example, when the hacker managed to plant the virus in any of the PC in the network, from there on, that particular itself would start attacking other PC in the network and makes the whole network to be further mess. The more PC infected in the network, the more often the attack would be performed to hijack your PC. That is what happening to Celcom wireless broadband. And soon we can expect to see the Digi network also similarly contaminated because the virus on Digi is more powerful and the network would grow largest very soon (due to very competitive pricing).

Bottom line; Keep your PC safe all the time ~ use safe browser ~ use strong antivirus with regular scan.

Have fun!

Vettaikaran - 2009

The movie released near to Christmas 2009 and many Vijay fans was excited about it. I was not interested to watch Vijay's movie as his previous movie was a total turn-off for me. But some how, my friends (Vijay's fans) managed to influence me to watch the movie.

I end up watching the movie alone (my style, alone the better) 2 days before Christmas. I get out of the hall with just disappointed. I am not concluding that the movie was bad, but just that my have set my expectation higher and they failed me.

I prefer commercial Tamil movie to fulfill all aspects such as; family-touch, friendship, comedy, action, expenditure/spending, music, and famous-characters. The movie has all that but limited on certain things such as family-touch and comedy.

When I see his acting on the screen, I don't feel like I am being in the scene because his acting makes me feel that the camera exist in-between and Vijay is much interested on the camera itself. In plain, you can say this as "over-acting" whereas the actor is doing such thing merely for the camera and not because he is in the character.

Lets go to the bright side of the movie; famous-characters like Vijay and Anushka; good expenditure on the setups; and nice to listen songs. The dance of the songs was still not up to my expectation. Anushka was not utilized on the screen as she given not much of script to make me admire her. I only enjoyed her glamour-exposure rather than admire her character in the movie.

The only reason for the movie to be extremely rated high is; Sun Pictures!

They are bad. They own large entertainment network and therefore they advertised the movie pretty well, from TV Channels to Movie Magazines rating the movie as number 1 and making people fooled-out when word-of-mouth is weak. They rounded the movie as best in everything although the story plot itself was an average. Its again a young man want to be police but end up doing rowdyism to survive and protect others. Where is the "Niche" or unique-touch of the story be remain unique in your mind?

Rating:6/10 (could have been far better if story was unique)

Class: Action
Mood: Boring

Catchy Conclusions; police-ambition, rowdyism in town, become rowdy, protect others

Whats new for 2010? My advise, don't target the sky and be practical.

For me, I want to back blogging actively because I have found that this blog do help some people to figure some of their puzzles based on my previous experience. Helping people is not my motive, but sharing idea is the motive.

I also tuning this blog to be mixture of my IT experience and movie experience because I love to share both of that with you guys. So from now on, you can see active blog with messy information. I suggest you use the "Articles Categories" menu on the right side of this blog to navigate around based on your interest. Or if you looking for something specifically, make use of the search tool on the right as well.

My life been "excellent" on 2008. But I was merely an average on 2009 as the start of the year itself begun my hard-adventures leaving me to work hard to survive my time.

For 2010, I can predict this year going to be another remarkable year of my life with new happy stuffs happening from middle of the year. Beginning of the year would be slightly hard but middle of year would be "interesting" once again. I look at everything that happen in my life as "luck" and "adventure". When good comes, it comes because luck. When bad comes, it is an adventure for us to overcome it. My adventure haven't stop and my luck is looking forward for me. Something like lagging?

Well, it is mainly because of the background applications which runs tiny processes. And those processes will use your CPU speed as well as your physical memory (RAM). When any of the process suddenly uses high CPU power or bite high memory, it would lag the system. This would merely be temporary because when high memory being used by a process, the operating system would try to allocate more memory for the process by killing previous unused memory.

But in some cases, you will see the system is lagging for long and I bet this is due to the high CPU usage by the process. You need to terminate the process to continue using the PC. The problem is, when you use Windows' Task Manager (ctrl+shift+esc), you will only see the process filename, such as this:

In that case, how would you know what process you need and what process you do not need? It would be confusing to decide based on just the process name. You can see the CPU and memory usage but before ending a process, you must know how much the system needs the process. For example, if you accidentally ended "explorer.exe" process then your system would reset all process which will close all your opened software and start again the explorer.exe because it is the most important process for Windows operating systems.

And, some processes would not be shown in that Task Manager because one process filename can host more than one process which the Task Manager would not show. What I am trying to conclude is, the Windows' Task Manager is not at all useful when you have issue with some 'unknown' processes.

Recently, when I was helping my friend to clean spyware on his notebook(laptop), I found "Process Explorer" software was really handy. It is just doing the task of Task Manager but instead it is more powerful in term of showing you the real-time report and advise on the critical-level of the process as well as show all hidden or sub-processes with details grabbed from the process filename itself.

The Process Explorer looks like this:

That software totally helped me to catch the unwanted process and kill them.

I suggest you to use this software or at least keep it in your machine, it would be useful one fine day when you came across some funny malware/spyware attack. You cannot run away from them if you are using lots of pirated softwares because the hackers who crack the original software and give you the pirated "patch", they would include their spyware in it which makes money for them. Otherwise, why on earth must some computer genius help you to crack cost software and give it to you to use for free?

Take my word, "Free" always comes with hidden cost and "Cracks" always comes with hidden malwares.

This is the reason why when you install some crack patches, your Antivirus software would block them. Antivirus do know how this hackers make money and the Antivirus company would not take risk on the Hackers, so they would attempt to block all the crack patches regardless they got virus/spyware or not.

Good example would be Avast Antivirus which always block hacker's patches. When you see those "Virus" warning on the patches, don't get panic and don't believe your Antivirus blindly! Just go ahead and shut-down/pause the Antivirus, then run the patches to crack your software. After installing/applying patch, immediately enable your Antivirus and when the Virus warning pops-up, proceed to let the Antivirus delete the patch file (why you need a patch file after patching/cracking your software?)

If you are someone who is damn worried about your computer's safety, then run the antivirus scan through your hard disk, run the anti-malware and check your system process. In my own experience, I suggest you to don't be freaked out about your computer safety until scanning your PC everyday after completing your work. Its lame.

Would you wash your car everyday although its not dirty? Exactly, don't keep scanning your hard disk files although its not attacked by virus or malware.
Would you wash your car periodically when you do not know either its dirty or not? Exactly, so just scan your hard disk and keep it clean periodically like monthly one or weekly once (if you download and install lots of stuffs on Internet).

You can download the software here:
http://reganrajan.com/useruploads/files/system_process_explorer.zip

I would write another blog on how I managed to clean my friend's notebook as well as my notebook more in detail.

Have fun!

2012 - 2009

My friend is the one forced me to follow him to cinema for this movie. I was not excited at beginning because I watched the trailer and it was not much expressive about the story. I also got confused with the movie "2012: Doomsday"

After watching the movie, I was totally freaked out. Either you guys believe it or not, Nostradamus has predicted the end of world (metal world) on December 21 2012. At the same time, Hinduism believes that the world will end when it is time for God to appear in real world. In another sense, it is known as Bhagavan Kalki avatar in Kali Yuga (metal world).

The myth do not say that everyone would die when it is end of the world. Instead, they predict that it is the end of Metal World but human beings will still remain although many would be killed. According to myth, at end of world, large wave (above 1000 feet) would flood into the cities and destroy most of the cities.

The movie did show that in visual that large wave flood into cities and kills everyone. But just before that, the reason for the wave was heat from the sun. They had arranged the logic well. And the plan for survival is totally agreeable!

The movie was total fun and excited was there all the time. I would have say the movie was total "shit" if they invented space ships as survival plan, but they did slap me back and say "we are smarter than u dumb!"

Rating: 10/10 (expensive movie, worth the time and money)
Class: Adventure
Mood: Excitement

Catchy Conclusions; flood, end of world, survival, new beginning

Fantastic Mr. Fox - 2009

Funny, funny, funny, an ordinary funny cartoon.

But the animation is not good enough to wow me. Its merely an average 3D animation with low frame rate.

I enjoyed the comedy well. And it was cute to watch on how they attack each other when the fox steal human's stuffs.

An interesting part of the jokes that I enjoyed most is the one the boy fox would be in chemistry lab and there would be girl fox as his lab partner. But the girl fox would be looking at the next table and admire the boy fox's cousin. It would irritate the boy fox and he will tell the girl fox 'u are my lab partner, remember?' Then girl fox would say 'yes i am.' Then the boy fox will say 'no, u r disloyal.' Hahaha, i think tat is a brilliant script. They used 'disloyal' instead of 'betray', and that is totally cool. They emphasized using simple terms for all the jokes and they also keep it short.

In general, this movie consist of day-to-day joke that an ordinary person could enjoy without the need of brain, duh, of course its a no-brainer movie cause it has talking-fox and other talking-animal! But, kick the logic, keep your brain aside and just enjoy the human-kinda-jokes...

Rating: 5/10 (rating low because Animation quality is disappointing)
Class: Animated
Mood: Comedy

Catchy Conclusions; comedy, talking-fox, funny, simple-jokes

Bandslam - 2009

Watched Bandslam 2009 recently and it was wonderful.

I seriously enjoyed the joke from the beginning until the end. Although the movie looks like lousy from poster and trailer, somehow it win my total attention when I was watching it.

I would suggest you guys to watch this movie too if you like "Grown-up kids" movies. Because the movie is all about teenagers and high-school music competition.

One of the comedy scene I enjoyed most in the movie is the kissing-tutorial scene whereas the super hot girl would teach and demo "how to kiss a girl" to the guy. But his mother would accidentally see it from the window. And the next day, the guy would apply what he learned into practical to his real girl friend. He would screwed up all the steps of "how-to-kiss" but at the end, he will give and receive the kiss he wanted. After-all, it just a way to tell; no right way to kiss a girl, just go ahead! She would receive it if she likes you, or you will receive something else in return (you name it!)

Overall, the movie was fun.

Rating: 6/10
Class: Music
Mood: Comedy

Catchy Conclusion; comedy, jokes, teenagers, music, high-school

Remote Access using TeamViewer: simple and best!

Hi,

If you guys had come across the requirement for Remote Access or Remote Desktop to assist your friends or clients, the best one among them is TeamViewer.

I know TeamViewer application since 2 years ago and now regretting that I did not share my knowledge about it with you guys earlier. Recently I had come across clients who needs me to support them and kind-of hard to support them through phone because sometimes they do not understand the tech-terms or jargon. If you tell them to do A, they will ask you what is A, if you tell them A is something that comes before B, they will ask what is B and it never ends.

The best way to provide remote support is through Remote Access. Windows' build-in Remote Desktop function can do the same thing but the only problem is; it require complex configuration including opening firewall ports and so on. But these stuffs are not required in TeamViewer. The client just need to download, install and run the application. Then they both can be connected through Connection ID and Password which given by the software.

I suggest you guys to download latest TeamViewer from:
http://www.teamviewer.com/index.aspx

But if in case their server is down or you could not find the download link in their website, then you may download from my server, its the Version 4:
http://reganrajan.com/useruploads/files/TeamViewer_Setup.exe

You will find the software as one of required software if you want support for Digital Paper. So if you are one of Digital Paper user/client, then please ensure you have the TeamViewer installed and it would be useful to provide you remote support. It saves time and hassle!

If you are looking for Remote Access that can help you to remote control among your own computers, then I have 2 suggestions for you as well:

1) If you want to remote control through WAN (Internet) then use LogMeIn.com. I have experienced using Log Me In since last 2 years, it is totally reliable and free (with limitations)

2) If you want to remote control through LAN (local network) then use RealVNC.com. Make sure you find the "Free Edition" and download it. Download the free edition for server and just install it. After install you can configure the password if you want to protect by password. You can also use Real VNC to control through Internet but you must know the server's IP address or domain name (if you hosting on the server). RealVNC is widely used. So you can expect hackers attack on the default port (5900), so change your port to something weird or unique (4562) and open the firewall for the port only.

Mess around guys!

Get rid of the Microsoft Windows Not Genuine error

Hi,

Guess what happen when you try to update your Windows Installer Package, or Windows Media Player, or Internet Explorer from Microsoft website?

First, it would ask you to download Windows Genuine checker software to validate your Microsoft Windows is a Genuine edition (not pirate). But if you run the checker software and you have pirated Windows installed, you are so busted! You wont able to update your desired software and it will be keep annoyed or nagged by lousy error windows each time you login and use your machine.

When Microsoft come up with the checker software, it was new and not hack-able. As result of it, you need to get reformat your machine to get rid of the checker software.

But now, hackers again smarter. They had come up with crack that would able to get rid of the annoying error message by marking your machine as a "Valid License User." The best part is, it not only works for Windows XP, but also works fine for Windows Vista.

I have tested it on my own machine as well as on my friend's laptop which got affected by the Genuine error. It works really fine.

Here is the file:
http://reganrajan.com/useruploads/files/Windows_OS_Genuine_Crack_Works.rar

Extract the "Genuine" folder to hard disk, I suggest use your windows folder. Then run the file "Crack XP.bat" if you using Windows XP or "Crack Vista.bat" for Windows Vista. And, its done! That simple. You might notice that it would have reset your default background. Worry not, just change back the background wallpaper to your previous wallpaper.

Note:
Use the tool provided wisely and do not hotfile the file. Thanks ya!
If you do not know how what is RAR and how to open RAR. It is just like ZIP folder but instead compression is RAR. To open RAR, you just need to download and install WinRAR. Its free for evaluation, and evaluation can be forever.

Have a nice day. Recently one of my client throw me a Microsoft Powerpoint (.ppt) file and asked me to crack it. I love when my clients throw me challenges!

I know that it is of course possible because previously I had crack a Microsoft Excel. But too bad I did not blog about it and now I even forgot how I did that hack. That is the reason why I am blogging now regarding this Powerpoint hack, I know I will forget soon, so better note it in blog rather than diary as it would benefit others as well.

My game started like this, I googled, googled, and googled for whole day and found only 1 software with the name of "Office Password Recovery Magic" which I got it with serial number so it was full-ware. But sad that the software was using "Brute-force Attack" as default if you know what I mean, it is something like the software will try inserting all possible characters and it will take hell a lot of time. Guess what? I run the software over-night on my server machine. Even after 1 day also could not hack it.

As you might know, I hate waiting, so once again, back to googling. This time I found "Advanced Office Password Recovery Professional (AOPRP)." It is a recommended tool for hacking MS Office files. I tried looking for the cracked version of it but did not find any. I did download some different version and unable to crack the software as version conflict. Finally I found the bundle pack which was nearly 66MB. Bundle pack consist of all Elcomsoft's software with the serial numbers.

I downloaded the bundle, installed only "Advanced Office Password Recovery 4.11 Professional". I used the given serial and the software was cracked. I run the software and opened the Powerpoint file. Take note that I install the software on my laptop as well as server. I run the software from the server as I doubt it would take another 1 or 2 days to complete the hacking of the Powerpoint through Brute-force attack.

AOPRP's default attack mode is dictionary. I proceed the attack and within less than 1 second, it showed me the password! Seriously! It took just 1 second? Hell, how dumb I was for running the previous software over-night?

See the attached screenshot: (password showed in just 1 second? Gosh, hackers are smarter)

If you drop to this blog while you are looking for software to hack and I am glad to share with you my knowledge and the software, download this:
http://reganrajan.com/useruploads/files/Advanced_Office_Password_Recovery_4.11_Professional.zip (serial number included)

If in case your file password is not dictionary password, then try the brute-force attack and give it some time.

Bottom line, as moral of the story; always use 14 digit above password and remember to include numbers and symbols when you want to protect your file. Example password: reganrajan*87#smart. This password would at least take 2 to 3 days to be hacked on brute-force attack (depend on your CPU speed as well). Only the person who is sincere to hack your file would wait until 3 days, duh!

Have fun kids! The internal server error 500 will display if you try to execute a directory which has the htaccess and requires rewrite_module. So, you must enable the rewrite module or delete your htaccess file in order to execute any script from that directory.

Deleting the htaccess could be only temporary solution. Enabling the rewrite module would be the real right solution.

I googled for it and found good advise from: http://blogulate.com/content/fix-500-internal-server-error-on-htaccess/ which the blog was written by 'thinkdj'. Mainly because I am back active being freelance programmer and interested to share some stuffs that I found with you guys.

I always used XAMPP to run PHP and recently I badly needed to have subdomains under localhost for one of my client's web to work. So I kick my ass and searched for "how to", many was there but missing the important pinch. Therefore I thought maybe sharing my own way would be helpful for someone else out there!

I found http://www.offshootinc.com/blog/2007/12/21/setting-up-a-subdomain-on-localhost/ but not worked because missing double quotes and NameVirtualHost. I continue googling and found this: http://www.ardamis.com/2005/08/11/xampp-apache-namevirtualhost/

That one worked like charm!

To cut the crap short; just add like this in C:\xampp\apache\conf\extra\httpd-vhosts.conf;

NameVirtualHost *:80
<virtualhost>
DocumentRoot "C:/xampp/htdocs"
ServerName localhost
</virtualhost>
<virtualhost>
DocumentRoot "C:/xampp/htdocs/sub"
ServerName sub.localhost
</virtualhost>

And add this in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 sub.localhost

I am using "XAMPP for Windows Version 1.6.6a" and it worked fine!

Have fun! But if the above method did not work for your version of XAMPP then continue googling and good luck! Don't ever get disappointed when you can't figure it out. Because I understand that messing with server is the most irritating task (after messing with scripts). And there is definitely a way to do it out there. Keep googling and keep on googling!

Take care ya!

=========== Updates on 26th March 2010 ===========
If you are running Windows 7, then you cannot simply edit the host file. Instead, you must right-click on Notepad and select "Run as Administrator". This would open the notepad.exe application with Administrator permission. Then, open the"C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts" inside the Notepad through File > Open. Remember you must view the file-type with "All files" instead of "Text File". After opening the host file, you can edit and save it.

In xampp apache config ("C:\xampp\apache\conf\extra\httpd-vhosts.conf"), you must write like this
NameVirtualHost 127.0.0.1:80
<virtualhost 127.0.0.1>
DocumentRoot "C:/xampp/htdocs"
ServerName localhost
</virtualhost>
<virtualhost 127.0.0.1>
DocumentRoot "C:/xampp/htdocs/sub"
ServerName sub.localhost
</virtualhost>

That's it! First reason for doing that: my free ASP host is no longer ad-free host, they force my web to include their advertisement which I strongly against because why must my web have their ads although I can get an ad-free host?

Second reason for the migration: previously companies used to see ASP web as a professional web but now days the companies themselves impress with the capability of PHP to fight against ASP as PHP is open source and a lot of development happening in PHP. This is not a joke, true that PHP is being well accepted by these professional companies. Somehow, from my point of view, PHP cannot beat the capability of ASP.NET although it win against the classic ASP.

My web should be up as soon as the migration process finish. Meanwhile my website reganrajan.com will be redirected to this blog.

Bye bye ASP, hello PHP!

Thank you.

Regards,
Regan Rajan
GIT Engineering Technologies

Easy way to download FLV

Hi all,

FLV is popular video format now days, and what do i wish most? I wanted to enter the database so i can change some absolute values. I googled and hey, I found the right tool: Advanced Access Password Recovery v2.5

I downloaded it and it was a trial version. It showed first 3 character of the password. I was happy with it and decided to crack the software to get full feature to view complete password of any MS Access database. It is a class component that ASP has by default. But recently when i found freeASPupload tool from freeASPupload.com. The tool worked fine as i wanted on my office PC, company server, and private server. When i execute the script onmy localhost, it returned error "Invalid class string" at the first line where the FileSystemObject class being use.

I did google up for solution but no luck, most of them was talking about the basic component DLL registry. Until recently i saw a post that highlighted the permission issue for FileSystemObject. And hey! It solved my problem.

I write this blog so the others who facing same silly problem as me can get the solution.

Here is the solution:
==================================
open regedit.exe (or run "regedit" / "regedt32")
go to this key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Scripting.File SystemObject
right click and choose Permissions...
set permission as follow:
. users read
. system full read
. power read
. creator owner
. admin full read
or see neighbor's permission of this key and do as them
Make sure the Internet User account has full permission.
==================================

Tadaaaa, your problem should be now solved. If this did not solve your problem, then better you google up for solution because you might be having critical problem such as missing the basic DLL files.

Credit goes to the original post author: tunghnt - http://www.velocityreviews.com/forums/t112215-help-invalid-class-string-instantiating.html

Thank you.

Connect Wireless Maxis Broadband to wireless router

Hi all,

It seems like i only blog once a month (but not even once on December 2007). Maybe because I am busy with my work and not much of free time to blog my experience.

Connecting broadband to wireless router is not something new. Everyone can do it. This is because wireless router are designed to detect the wired broadband connect PPPoE and other types of broadband connection. But bringing this to the next step, connecting the Maxis Wireless broadband to wireless router was a nice experience for me as it wasn't as easy as ABC (maybe as hard as XYZ).

Wireless router normally has 4 port for PC and one port for Internet or modem. The HSDPA modem that provided by Maxis when you purchase has all the setting pre-installed as it detect the unique identity of user through the SIM card attached to the modem. This is a HSDPA connection. You can access the internet through HSDPA connection. This means the internet is in plug-and-plug form. And when you try to plug-and-play it with wireless router, it will return dumping you back with no internet connection. And now the logic explanation for this is Wireless Router is not smart enough to identify the HSDPA connect because it do not have any HSDPA function build-in with it.

How to overcome this? How to successfully fix your wireless broadband to wireless router?

Now the answer for the puzzle, as i mentioned earlier wireless router is not smart to detect the HSDPA internet connection, so why must we plug in to the internet port? The wireless router can just work like a wireless hub/switch. This refers to a situation where the wireless router will assign IP to the PC users automatically to each of the PC connected to the wireless router through the 4 PC ports.

This is where the puzzle being solved, plug in the Maxis Wireless Broadband HSDPA modem into PC port 1 of the wireless router. Don't use the internet/modem port of the wireless router.

So, the Maxis Wireless Broadband HSDPA modem will be in PC port 1 and you may connect other PCs to the other 3 ports available in the router.

Now, go to the wireless router setting page which normally will be http://192.168.1.1

In there, set the default IP address for the wireless router to be http://192.168.0.2 and restart the wireless router.

Then go to the new setting page of the modem through address http://192.168.0.2 and set the DHCP server to active and the IP pool can be from 192.168.0.3 until 192.168.0.255 (use small pool for better performance based on how many users will be connected to the wireless router).

Don't restart the router first. Look in the DHCP server setting, you will find a setting space for Primary DNS and Secondary DNS. Set 192.168.0.1 into the Primary DNS field and save it. Then restart the router.

Taadaaa! Surprisingly you are done! Now your Maxis HSDPA modem connected to the wireless router.

You can now just go to the wireless router setting page http://192.168.0.2 and set your wireless network name and security protections which you will normally do when you connect the wireless router to wired broadband. Restart your router once you done with the basic settings.

You can see your network name appear in the wireless network list and click it to get connected with Internet-Ready through Maxis Wireless Broadband HDSPA(or 3.5G)

I experienced this situation and this solution really worked for me. Drop me an email for further advises if you ever face this situation.

Have a nice day all!

Wireless LAN USB Adapter connecting at 11mbps instead of 54mbps or higher

Ok, the title of this post might sound like a question. But i am not asking the question instead i am going to answer it.

Alright, recently i bought Aztech Wireless Router for RM100. It supports speed up to 54mbps. When i put it live, my laptop WLAN can detect it and connect at speed of 54mbps. While i tried to connect it to some desktop PC through Aztech Wireless LAN Adapter (USB). To my supprise that the connection speed is not connected at 11mbps. But the real speed capability of my WLAN adapter is 54mbps. So, this is the puzzle.

I have heard of this problem since earlier of this month when one of my uncle complained having the same situation as this. Now, i am the one in this situation. I love IT, so what i should do?!? Yes, just GOOGLED it out ! And yea, i found the solution.

It's very simple reason actually. connected the USB adapter to USB port in my desktop PC, but that USB port version is only 1.1 which do not support high speed as USB 2.0. This problem solved easily when i plug the adapter into USB v2 port and able to get connected at 54mbps.

If you don't know which port are USB v1.1 and which are USB v2, then try plugging in the adapter in each and every port that you have until you get connected at 54mbps.

If you still do not get connected at that speed, that means none of your USB ports are version 2.0. You must get USB v2 card and install it to your PC. That is the only option that you have if you are stubborn to get 54mbps speed.

ASP: Response.redirect (stupid function)

Hi all,

Most of ASP programmers should know that response.redirect() works fine and it is our primary option to redirect pages from one to another. But the sad story behind this function is that, it cannot be used after the server published the content to client side.

For example,
If i put

response.write "Hi"
[the content generated in server]

response.write "Hi"
response.redirect("somewhere.asp?act=action")
[the content Hi is still generated by server and keep without sending to client side. Then why we write the content 'Hi' if the server do not publish it to client side? but redirects straight to somewhere.asp]

response.write "Hi"
response.flush
response.redirect("somewhere.asp?act=action")
[the content will be published to client side. And followed by error "The HTTP headers are already written to the client browser. Any HTTP header modifications must be made before writing page content." That is right, the header already send to the client and how to redirect now?]

After googling, i found alternative function: server.transfer "somewhere.asp?act=action". But if you intent to use this function, you can't post the variables which i wanted to post "act=action".

Alright, here is the fix!

Keep aside the stupid(limited) asp script and get down to highly responsive Javascript. When ASP and Javascript is put together, the magic will happen.

This is not my own idea but the idea was contributed someone in forums when i googled around. So the credit all goes to him.

As we all know,
ASP: response.redirect("somewhere.asp?act=action")
is equal to
Javascript: window.location.href = "somewhere.asp?act=action";

Agree?

If you agree, you found the fix already :)

Now lets write down this in our asp page,

  response.write "Hi"
response.flush
response.write "<script>window.location.href = 'somewhere.asp?act=action';script>"

Tadaaaa!

ASP + Javascript = Magic

It is true, the magic happen for my case.

Thats all.

Oh ya, my next post will be about Maxis Broadband (Wireless) which said to be using 3.5G technology (HSDPA). For those who don't know the meaning of HSDPA, here is it, "High-Speed Downlink Packet Access". I will be testing the broadband today evening and implementing it to Aztech Wiress Router tomorrow at my father's office. Excited to surf using 3.5G for the first time.

Have a nice day!

Convert your .bat to .exe within few seconds...

Hi all,

First of all, i would like to say sorry for my poor english and i realize that i missed out to type many words properly in my previous blogs. The most stupid mistake that i did was typing "wit" instead of "without". So when i make this sort of mistakes, it changes the meaning of the whole sentense. I am very sorry. Please tolerate my mistakes and thank you so much for it.

Before coming to bat2exe issue, previously i had post direct download link for 6 of Harry Potter ebooks. The 7th ebook also launched "pirate" and available widely on internet. I could not share the direct download link because i downloaded the ebook from torrents (around 2mb - PDF). If you could not find it anywhere online, please feel free to drop me an email or reply to this post request for the ebook, i will email it to you because uploading pirate contents to internet is illegal (but can be shared through email because no other will know) :)

Now coming to our topic of discussion, 'bat to exe'. I assume that many basic DOS users will know to create .bat files which makes the easy way to create/copy/delete/rename folder or files. Sometimes, we can use this batch as a installer whereas it is capable of copying all files from CD/DVD to hard disk with just few lines of DOS language without need to execute anything. Although this sounds good, the bad part is, anyone can access to your .bat files and edit the script. So how to hide our scripts from being edited? How to hide our work? Easy, lets put it to EXE.

We can use converters available in the internet to conver .bat to .exe but the issue here is, how far actually your script is save? Some complain that they still can open the .exe file in notepad and access the script.

The best solution i found online is the wonderful simple freeware called "Bat To Exe Converter" by f2ko. It is superb. The script can be secured. Besides you can include icon and version description/author information which will make your new .exe file look exactly as an application. The most interesting part is the "Ghost" option which the application has to make your .bat works without DOS window. Sounds interesting, by this you can hide the real news that your file was actually designed in batch format.

You can read more about the software at : www.f2ko.de
Or download it at : http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/File-Management/Batch-To-Exe-Converter.shtml

I benefited from using this software because recently i wrote batch file to backup database for the company i working for. So to make it like a professional application, i used the converter and included version, author, my company name, and company logo as icon which made the application look wonderful executeable file.

This is all for today.

Will blog about something else later...

Have a nice day !

Harry Potter Ebooks

Hi,

Recently i downloaded and watched harry potter 1 and hary potter 2 movie and this gain my interest on harry potter series. As everyone knows, Harry Potter books and movies are among the most popular series which loved by all age of children and teenagers including myself. Rather than talking about hardware or software, lets get down more detailed on a movie format. I am sure many of you know the classic movie format such as MPG/MPEG4 or AVI and also Windows's own movie format WMV. But how many of you guys are aware of NEW movie format that tackle almost 50% of internet's movie website? Most online streaming video providers are now facing force of technology to roll back their stupid WMV or RM (Real Player Movie) online streaming videos to replace with new FLV format. FLV refers to Flash Video format. This is wonderful and i promise you that this is much stable that RM (Real Player Movie) and 10 times better than the Window's stupid WMV which never stable for most users including me. FLV became famous as the YouTube managed to crack the world with their online video clip streaming capability which never as stupid as other online streamers because they are not using WMV or RM but eventually using FLV. FLV is Flash compactible and works with flash plugin to control the move time (including rewind/forwarding the movie).

And the good news is that This FLV player do not force you to install Real Player or Windows Media Player or Apple QuickTime but it works stable wit any additional softwares except Flash Plugin. If you web browser can load and play flash (SWF) then it can also load this FLV movies online and stream it live. The example site are YouTube.com and DailyMotion.com.

But somehow, if you managed to download those FLV files because some people prefer to keep the video files offline in their hard disk to use it anytime without need of internet connection then you will need to install a local player in your computer to play the FLV files. If you have no idea on how to download the streaming videos from YouTube or Google or DailyMotion? Then i suggest you to visit : http://keepvid.com/ which will definately help you by providing straight link to download the streaming video into FLV format.

After you download into your hard disk, you can't access it that so fast. No software in your computer will support this new type of video format even the Real Player and Windows Media Player also cannot play this format. There are several software players available for you to play FLV including FLVPlayer and nFLVplayer. I had tried them both and also other software. But all of them do not make me happy because i cannot have PLAYLIST to play many movies continuesly and also they provide me poor quality of video.

The best accidental shot that i gave was installing K-Lite Codecs. I did not install it for FLV but i just wanted my notebook to be having all the latest Audio/Video codecs as i can work better on encoding and decoding. This K-Lite codecs definately suprised me as they came with FLV Codec which has the capability of playing this FLV movies in good quality(the original FLV quality) even in full screen and the best part of it that they do provide PLAYLIST for me to play the movies continuosly. The software that attached together with k-lite codec version 3.01 is Media Player Classic. This player is really classy!!! Believe me, this player worth of using it as it is free open source and preforms very good in player all(or most i could say) movie/audio formats including Divx, AVI, MPEG4, VCD, DAT, MPG, RM, WMV, FLV, and many many more. They can be classified as UNIVERSAL MEDIA PLAYER. They provide full pack of codecs which makes our pc up to date.

Now my comment is download K-Lite Codecs (latest version up to now is 3.20) to play most audio/video format including FLV which is latest format that cracking down internet world. Use Keepvid.com to download streaming movies from YouTube, DailyMotion, Google and many more website.

Good luck all. FLV worth of downloading as it is more compact size compare to other video format and it will give you a compatitive quality. Ok then. This is simple and easy when they use Simple ADSL Modem (NOT Router). But if later you brough a Router, you will be freaked off that Windows Networking Connections won't help you to connect to the broadband internet. You will probably get error like this "The remote computer is not responding". This do not mean your router not working but you are lack in doing the right connection setting. All you need to is login to the Router's Web Interface to edit the settings. To do this, you must login to the Router web interface through an IP Address. Open Internet explorer and goto IP Address as writen in Router's user manual. Most often it will be : 192.168.1.1 (so the web interface URL is : http://192.168.1.1/). Just goto that address and login.

After login, you will see a word such as WIZARD. Click on the WIZARD and do the setting as guided by the Wizard itself. After the wizard is done, you no longer need windows connection to go internet, when ever you turn on your router, you will be online immediately as the router itself will dial-up to the broadband and keep the connnection active.

If in case you don't wish to have your internet always on with that new router and better wish to use Windows Connection to connect and disconnect from internet manually, then you just need to BRIDGE the connection. This means the Router will now not automatically connect to the internet and will disable the build-in dialer. While it will fully demand on Windows Networking COnnection to connect/disconnect from internet. In the router's web interface, search for an option called CONNECTION TYPE. By default it will be "PPPoE/PPPoA", change it to BRIDGE. Then just use your Windows dialer to connect and disconnect from internet as previously.

Note: a Router is not an ADSL modem but it is having advance feature to break through the classic ADSL Modem. So when you no longer need a router but just need an ADSL modem, then simply you can turn it to be a BRIDGE which means the Router just act just as an ADSL Modem which will turn off your hassle of messying up with the Router settings.

Recently, one of D-Link Router which has an advance ADSL feature and named as D-LINK ROUTER ADSL+2. This is more advance and our Malaysia Streamyx Home-User broadband is not as advance as it looks like. So if you brought an ADSL+2 ROUTER then you probably will have the error in router showing Router Connection Status as "CONNECTING" but it never connect to internet. The status will remain as Connecting. Haha, this is definately because your router having advance setting ADSL+2. This setting would have different values for PVC, VPI and VCI. And you need to set it back to our classic ADSL setting. Here is the value that your Router suppose to have:
(In Router's Web Interface, Go to the WAN settings and adjust this values...)

1) PVC : Pvc0
2) VPI : 0
3) VCI : 35

After doing editing this changes to the right value, save the setings. Restart your router and it will work prefectly right! You can see your status as "Connected" and able to surf the internet. Enjoy... by the way, you are always welcome to catch me if you need any assistant in setting your Router.

Convert Audio from Cassette to CD

Hi all,

Maybe most of you have heard about "real-recording". But when questioned about real-recording and what it is used for? Most of us could not answer it. But the answer is Real-Recording used to convert Audio/Video more technically rather than using special softwares. Just a simply Audio/Video recording software could do the magic of converting. The process of converting is very simply where as the Real-Recording will play the original Audio or Video in it's existing format while software is used to capture the audio and video in real time later save it to any perferred format as allowed by that software. Similar case apply to convert audio from Cassette to Audio CD.

If any of you wish to convert cassette audio to CD then here i write my experience which was one of my latest experiment of real-recording. All you need is a Cassette player and audio cables. Your Cassette player should support AUDIO-OUT (Output Audio). And the cable that you need is a special cable that could connect RCA to PC Sound Card. RCA is nothing else than just the normal RED, WHITE, and YELLOW connector available cable that used for TV and Hi-fi systems. But this special cable will have only audio RCA which is RED and WHITE. On the other end of cable, it would have normal Sound Card plug like you usually have for your headphone. All you need to do is connect that end into your computer's sound card at "LINE-IN" (Blue color). And the RCA side use it to plug to the Cassette player. Then open audio real-recording software, Adobe Audition is best software while i personally prefer and used Audacity (Free Open Source software). Adjust your Windows Mixer to record from LINE-IN and Mute other recording channels including Microphone. Only allow Line-In to record. Now use the software to start recording and PLAY the cassette in it's player. After few seconds, you should able to see the Audio Waves displaying the software which proves that real-recording is running. Leave i to run until the cassette stop playing. It will be around 25 minutes for one side of cassette to finish playing. Then stop recording. In the audio waves, cut out the silent parts by highlighting and deleting it. And you can save the track right away in that software. I suggest you to save it in MP3 rather than Wave because it compress the audio and saves your hard disk space.

Now repeat the step for the other side of the cassette, play the cassette and let the software to record in real-time. And save it too. The final step is just to burn that MP3 to Audio CD. Simple to do this, just use Nero Burning Rom and get it done by locating the MP3 files and burn it as Audio CD.

Hope you get it all right. But one important thing that you need to keep in remark; plug the cable to LINE-IN (Blue) of your sound card and NOT in the MICROPHONE (Red) plug. This is because it would waste the Audio Quality which i had experienced it.

Give it a try, experience teaches you better than your teachers DO !

Good luck buddy !

Burn DVD Video using .VOB Files without .BUP and .IFO

Hi, here is my another experience. Alright, i downloaded some one movie which had 4 parts. All of it was .VOB files. I knew VOB is DVD Video files because previously i had deal with them before and i am not new to hear that file format. But one thing made me suprise is that, VOB files cannot be burned as DVD Video without the .IFO and .BUP files which will actually contain the movie chapter information. And this is the first time to deal it this way without that 2 additional files. After googling, i read some articles and other user's opinions and as result of it i downloaded IFOedit. Here is the fun part, i just open IFO Edit application which is just around 500KB and create the IFO by just locating the VOB file. IFOEdit did the magic, it took some time to analyze the VOB files and create Chapters based on it and outputs .IFO and .BUP file. Now, what i wanted can be done, I just open Nero Burning Rom 6.6 and selected DVD-Video and added all the files .VOB, .IFO, and .BUP. But Nero showed that the IFO not found due to the Naming conflict and i changed the name of IFO and BUP manually and it worked wonderful. Taadaaaa.... Nero Burned the DVD-Video without any problem. Hope my experience will help you guys too. Oh ya, the great magic was done by that tiny software called IFOedit. Its a free application, could help you out if faced same problem as i did. Below is the screen shots:

IFOedit version 0.971

Nero Burning Rom version 6.6 OEM

Convert Internal DVD-RW Drive to External

Hi buddies,

Recently i bought Samsung DVD-Burner and it is an Internal Drive. I had installed it to my room computer and it performed very well until impress me by burning 4 Gigabytes of data in just 8 minutes using 8x speed (11mb/sec). But somehow, my room computer did not perform well after i bought my laptop and this laptop only has DVD Combo which means it will Read DVD, Read CD and Burn CD but won't burn DVD. I used to download movies from internet and the capacity is almost 700MB +- for each movie. Generally, this situation placed me into a need for DVD Burners as i don't wish to delete the movies after watching it, i want to save it all in DVDs and keep it for later use just to prove that i have watched many movies maybe. A new External DVD Burner will cost RM 310 (samsung) or RM 450 (sony). I have a internal DVD burner that i just bought for RM 135 which i installe to my room pc, so all i need is just a solution to make that internal DVD to an external DVD and make it suit for my laptop. I did a small research on how to do it.

The best information that i get is, we need 5.25" Enclosure to make the Internal drive to External. This enclosure is not so different to the normal hard disk enclosure (2.5" and 3.5"). And the difference were the size is bigger and it need an external pwer supply. USB power won;t be sufficient for it to work. It need an external power supply which comes together in the 5.25" Enclosure. I found the cheapest hardware at lelong for RM 60. I went to Digital Mall and looked all around there for this Enclosure. Believe me, when i asked them 5.25" Enclosure, most of the shop peoples said that they don't have it but when i look at their showcase, they of course got it there and when asked about it, then only they said "oh, this is the 5.25 inch enclosure huh?" It return as a question to myself. Most shop priced the device between RM 130 to 199. This is silly, all i wanted is just a simply enclosure and around RM60 which waas available in Lelong. Shopping around and around and around whole over the Digital Mall and finally found the cheapest on for RM 75. It was pretty what i expected and searched for. I took it for that price.

Back home, i took the Internal Drive and fix it to the 5.25" Enclosure case. Plug the USB to my laptop and turn on the power. Wow... Finally what i wanted had happened! The USB device was automatically recognized by Windows XP and did not prompt for any driver. I burned 4 Gigabytes of movies using Nero and it worked very well by completing the burning procedures in just 8 minutes. Glad i experienced a new stuff. And now very glad that i had shared my experience here through blogging it. Good day all!

Acer Aspire 3684 series is using Atheros AR5007EG

hi all,

Today i experience a new thing, well Acer Aspire 3683 is using Atheros AR5005EG Wireless LAN while newly launched Acer Aspire 3684 (with Camera) is using Atheros AR5007EG. And the worst part of the new device is the Driver Installation part. Installing the older Atheros is much easier than installing this new Atheros AR5007EG. When I install the Atheros driver, it often hang when it reached 75% of installation. Although I try to reinstall for about 3 or 4 times, it keep on hang. So I decided to try it on Safe Mode. I copied the driver to hard disk and installed it on Safe Mode. Finally it worked well. If you guys also come across this Atheros AR5007EG, go on to install the Driver in Safe Mode. The other drivers works very well in Windows normal mode.

Rescue wet SD Card and formating it...

Hi all,

SD Card refers to the most popular memory card - Secured Digital Cards that are used in many digital cameras now days. And accidentally falling it into a water can be the most horrible situation if any one of us face it. From my own experience, i had face that situation and would like to gie you some tips on recover the card and the photos on it. I did forgot that the card actually in my pants pocket and my mum washed that pant. On the other day, i got to know that she found the SD card in the wash machine. I was actually suprise with my own POOR MEMORY power. The SD Card was given to me ad it was dry. When i placed it to my laptop, i could not access it. It showed I/O Error. While i tried on my digital camera "Canon PowerShot" while it showed "Memory Card Error". This definately scared me off because i need to use the card 2moro for an event. All i could is give it a try to recover it. The most useful tip that we all should know is "all IT stuffs need to warm". The more hot your card is, the more better the life-time for your It stuffs escpecially chips. SD card is also some sort of Memory Chips. So i took a hair-dryer and warmed the SD card until it really got very hot. Then i placed it to my latop. Lucky i was, my laptop now detected the card and i could see all the photos in it. I did transfer the photos to my hard disk. Then i put it back to camera and it worked. Again i too the SD card out and tried to format it on my laptop. I used FAT32 to format. After that i put it to the camera and suprise, once again faced "Memory Card Error". I did something and something and something to figure out the problem but i couldn't. Finally i decided to format the card back using FAT (not FAT32) which is actually belogging to old DOS system. Here is the key points, FAT - for DOS systems, FAT32 - for Win32 such as Windows 98, and NTFS - for NT system such as Windows XP. And was very glad that the SD card finally worked both on my laptop and camera. Lucky escape from spending RM 50 on buying new card. The moral of the story is 'hair-dryer' has many purposes else that just drying our hairs. While always format SD Card using FAT system rather than FAT32! Happy Day...

BlogSpot.com/Blogger.com is worst blog hosting...

Hi,

In my first blog, i have told that i selected Google's blog hosting - blogger.com and blogspot to host my blogs and now i realize that i did a mistake. This google blogger is not up to the speed that a blog hosting should have. Believe me, Google Blog server only give download speed of 3kb per second. This is so called "poor speed". An Blog hosting server should at least respond at 10kb per second. Besides, to post a new message to blog, i need to wait for about 1 minute for this blog session actually opens. This is so poor speed and not satisfying me. A server's upload per session is our download per session. Google definately need a better upload server to host us with good download speed. By the way, recently have you guys realize that Google's search engine had actually slow down compared to Yahoo? Although Yahoo's first page loads slow but the search page is much more better than Google's page. This is because recently google started to analyze all the incoming and outgoing clicks. When we search on google and click on the result link to go to the particular website, the click never goes straight to the website as previously it was. Now it is slighly different as the click will go to google analyze page and then out click activity recorded on google-analytic.com server and returns forwarding us to the real website that we wanted to at the first click. This was done to enable Google can know where do people clicking to and they could own a complete statistic of the search engine users including you and me. This is an advantage to google but on the other hand, this had slow down their website and being a reason to be classified as disadvantage of google. Hope google won't drawn in this search engine service which is their main source to gain revenue from advertisings. And they had opened this Google Analytics option to all user to apply on their own website or even blogs and start tracking. But all the tracking report is actually stored and handled by the Google server itself. Google never stop giving free services which is very good and plus for them but they really need a push over their server speeds.

Notebook in push by technology, Camera missed due to rush...

Hi all,

End of February 2007 i bought this Acer Aspire 3683 (without Windows XP) notebook and cost me RM 1999. This is the real market price and i was satisfied buying it on that time. 1 week later, on begining March 2007, i was shocked with the new release which was exactly same as my model but this time, the notebook has build in CMOS Camera. Freaky! I missed this camera notebook due to hurry and rushing in buying this notebook.

After 2 months later, today i went to Digital Mall and saw the notebook (with camera) for only RM 1699. Of my god, this means i wasted RM 300 because i went to Jaya Shopping Complex which is actually located beside Digital Mall and was so stupid to but the notebook from Pineapple Computers. On the other hand, Notebook shop on 1st floor of Digital Mall having it only for RM 1699. While the competitive Compaq Presario brand is just RM 1799. Wow... The different is Compaq has DVD Burner while Acer's option do not have it.

Well, mind this blog is just to inform you that Digital Mall is absolutely a wonderful place for IT lovers to shop around for a good deal which i was so late to realise. But its ok, life teaches me new experience. The moral of this story is that, Regan is not always Smart Regan and somehow my rushing character can make me fail out to be a real Stupid Regan to waste RM 300 on the notebook purchasing. Life is so wonderful. What ever you guys out there want to buy, go to Low Yat or Digital Mall. I strongly suggest Digital Mall better than Low Yat because it is more easier for those who live around Selangor (PJ, SJ, Sunway, Puchong, CJ).

The begining of my Blogging life...

Hi all, here starts my first blog.
